The UI leaves things a little clumsy, not in combat, that works pretty well, but the rest of it does not make things pop or stand out so people can find and use elements they probably have been overlooking. There are some bugs, glitches, errors, misspells, and general oversights that no game seems to go without at launch nowadays, even if they somehow had a 100 million dollar budget. Now I can not say it is exactly a 100 percent hit out of the park, I do have a few gripes. Beside a much harder Hardcore Mode for the overall game play (perma-death), every mission starts at an easier level and can be adjusted to different difficulty levels that ramp up quick. There are difficulty settings that I think many miss. Now most of the negativity I have seen on the Steam User reviews is that the game is too easy… This is entirely not true. Clearly someone was listening to their critics and community! I am having loads and loads of fun with this game with just the content present now and they already have many free updates with much more content planned. It is clear that this game not only learns from its predecessor but greatly improves on many ideas from it. This game not only feels and works leaps and bounds better than their last game, but I would dare say they have completely blown us away by the quality they have put out this time. It is very obvious that this dev has done what we want all devs to do, and that is to learn from their past mistakes. This game, though, did a complete reversal, and unlike the last game I can not seem to put it down after the first day. I was very disappointed at Quadro Delta after the launch of their last game, and have to admit I did not play it again after the first day. That is saying a lot after buying this Indie devs last game. I have to say I am really enjoying this game a lot right after its launch. Not to mention you may piss off a few people as your tear your way through some baddies best laid plans as if they were nobodies. Your rag-tag group of misfits will come across many challenges as you explore this vast galaxy of wonders, and will have some big challenges in their way. You will encounter many different factions, and even more strange alien life forms, some of which will have missions for you aside from your company missions. While your crew only starts with 2 very basic members, that can be increased to many more very in depth, well trained, greatly geared, and highly skilled members. In Pixel Privateers you play as the leader of a privateer crew sent to a new galaxy through a wormhole to explore and discover new things, and maybe fix the issue with the wormhole only working 1 way if you wanna get home maybe. All that and without even touching on the funny RPG elements and the very deep strategy elements that you can choose to engross yourself in, or simply ignore if you like things faster paced. There is a lot to explore with a wide galaxy of planets and other places to see and do missions on. Hire, customize, clone, train, and specialize your crew members. Create, buy, or create your own new gear with combining system ,or even clone gear you like. Here is just a sample list of all the game play elements in this expansive game: You can buy new, build, and customize your space ships. There is so many elements from all over the spectrum it is hard to really jam this game into one category. As if that game type description is not long enough, this game also has elements of a rogue/dungeon-like, and also some space exploration aspects. Pixel Privateers is a “Squad Based Tactical RPG Loot ‘Em Up” according to their steam page. Me and a friend spent a little while trying to figure out how to host a game before we realized he could just join me no complications needed! If you are looking for a fun and challenging game that will not hurt your budget, this is the one. Also, for even more replayability there is the 4 player Co-Op that is so easy to set up it is actually a little confusing at first. Pixel Privateers does just that, you can play one save for days on end, then start a new game, and get a very different experience with all new challenges, which means some great replayability. Lets face it, there are not many new great games on the Steam Store that will cost you less than a pizza, and provide many hours of fun and challenging game play.
